renovations

I don't know if I have mentioned yet, but my mom and dad are moving here in about four weeks. They are officially coming on staff as Stinters (short term missionary) with Back2Back to serve for 12 months. John is at this moment renovating our boys' quarters to make a little mini apartment for them behind us. It will be nice to have them close by but have their own place. Mom and Dad, I mean no disrespect by that comment, but I know you know that, right?
So, here is the beginning of the changes, and I thought I would share a glimpse of our property in the midst of changes.

The picture above is where John will add even another little living area for our guards who are now currently living in our boys' quarters. They are getting a newer, yet slightly smaller, place. This location used to have a papaya tree and mango tree on it. Sad, huh? Oh well, it will be nice to have so many I care about within our little compound.
The picture above is our new laundry room (that is kind of a joke, huh, since you have to have real power to use it.... hehehehe, I have to laugh about it so I don't cry). The old laundry room is going to be my parents new kitchen.
Okay, the picture above is just a long view of our drive where we park the cars, it is currently our little Home Depot. In the back is where the laundry room is again. I am just trying to give you all angles is all.
Okay, this is just a picture of the blue doors and windows. We had to stick with this color to match what our landlord had already chosen with our own home. So, welcome to the Blue Drive. I think I might call our home that from now on.... "Please come visit Blue Drive, it is beautiful!" I don't know, it doesn't sound right yet. I will keep working on a better name.

That is it. John works fast, so supposedly it will all be done in four weeks. I trust him completely, but it seems like a lot of work. BUT, the work is well worth it to have my children's grandparents here for a year. I know this upcoming year will be filled with good memories, probably some growing pains and just living life and ministry with people you care for and respect. CANNOT WAIT!!!

  1. Corrie, Thank you for sharing the pictures and your excitement of having your parents so close to you. I don't live a half a world away from my mom but every time she comes for the winter it's like a renewing of our relationship. I have been praying Col. 1:9-12 over your parents and their trip and I know that their time with you and John will be a blessing and movement of God for all of you. Blessings all over you, your family, and your mission. Theresa Valliant
